With the ongoing conflict with Iran and the approaching mid-terms, most folks are not thinking ahead in preparing for winter. Many were getting ready to send the kids to school others were more worried about the NFL season. I hate to be the bearer of bad news; with the SPR (Strategic Petroleum Reserve) getting to critical levels the price of diesel is averaging over $6 USD a gallon. Our nation runs on diesel and as the price per gallon goes up so do items at stores.
This is a threat to national security in my opinion. As the cost for fuel goes up, some trucking companies may either go under or not want to haul to certain areas as it is not profitable. This in turn could lead to shortages on shelves that could lead to a breakdown of civil order starting in urban areas and spreading as resources dwindle. I will take the time to provide what you should do before the MSM politicizes the cost of diesel and creates panic, like they did with the China virus and fake pandemic.

Things I recommend to readers:
1) Get your oil or propane tank topped off. The prices are going up daily, now’s the time to fill up, not when it gets cold. The northeast keeps around a 45-day reserve for winter. Don’t count on that as urban areas will be a drain on it. Canada provides fuel to New England through pipelines. A source informed me that one of Canada’s refineries that supplies New England will be shutting down for maintenance that could last for months, which could cause shortages.
2) If you have a fireplace or wood stove you don’t use, it might be a good idea to get it checked out and the chimney swept as a backup plan. Power loss is a fact of life where I live and my wood stove has kept me clean, fed and warm for weeks at a time. I recommend at the minimum having one cord on hand. The average price in my area per cord of seasoned wood is $375, which is cheaper than a tank of oil.
3) Buy some 5-gallon fuel cans for vehicles or generators. I recommend keeping some fuel on hand depending on your needs. Remember to add fuel stabilizer for the long term.
4) Buy extra dry/canned goods at the store. Remember the scamdemic? Don’t be that guy we all saw with a cart loaded with frozen pizzas. It all starts with an extra can of tuna etc. I usually pick up some extra goods without going bonkers, something to think about.
5) Stock up on medications if possible. It’s a good idea in my opinion to have at least a 60-day supply of medications. If shortages happen people with chronic health issues are not going to make it. That is a harsh reality so stock up if you can.
6) I’m preaching to the choir with this one. If you haven’t already, buy a firearm and plenty of ammo for it. I would hope after the scamdemic most folks were smart enough to acquire and learn how to use a firearm. Sadly, there is always “that guy” which I advise not to be like.
The above is the bare minimum I advise readers to consider. If you have already implemented some of those suggestions, congratulations! You’re already ahead of the unprepared. From where I sit, I see things getting tough this winter with all of us having to tighten our belts. One last recommendation, purchase a radio that has short wave capability. There is good information on shortwave stations and it’s nice to get news that don’t have an agenda behind it. We were all lied to during the China virus by the MSM and you owe it to yourself to get independent information. I hope things sort themselves out but even if they do, it never hurts to be prepared.
